Speaker:
Dr. Hongyue Dai
Senior Scientific Director of Custom Analysis
Rosetta Inpharmatics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc.
Time: 10-11am, Tuesday Oct. 10
Location: New Life Science Building, Room 610
Biography:
Hongyue Dai currently holds the Senior Scientific Director position in Custom Analysis, Rosetta Inpharmatics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc. His responsibilities include, managing the data analysis support to Gene Expression Lab, managing the microarray data analysis support to various therapeutic franchises within Merck. His current research interest is to use molecular profiling to study cancer.
He was a Research Associate Professor of Physics Department at University of Utah before joining Rosetta. He earned his credit as a solid data analyst by convincingly proving to the high energy astrophysics world the existence of cosmic rays beyond the 3oK microwave cutoff energy, through the discovery and careful analysis of a single event (It was commonly accepted that the microwave background eliminates all those cosmic rays). His analysis results regarding the cosmic ray energy spectrum and composition were Physical Review Letters and were widely cited.
He received his BS from Peking University and PhD from Institute of High Energy Physics of Chinese Academy of Science.
