Bios:
Bin Ma is currently a Canada Research Chair in
Bioinformatics and an Assistant Professor in the
Department of Computer Science at the University of
Western Ontario. He received his Ph.D. degree in Peking
University in 1999, and did one-year postdoctoral research
in the University of Waterloo. He joined the University of
Western Ontario in 2000 as an assistant professor. He is
a recipient of Ontario Premier's Research Excellence award
in 2003 for his research in bioinformatics. He is a
coauthor of two well-known bioinformatics software
programs, PatternHunter and PEAKS. He is the (co)author
of 28 journal publications and 20 conference publications.
He is cross-appointed by the Department of Biochemistry at
the University of Western Ontario, and an adjunct
assistant professor in the Department of sComputer Science
at the University of Waterloo.
